Farida Khan-Evans is a British artist based in Surrey, originally from Cardiff, South Wales. With over 30 years of experience in the art world, Farida has exhibited widely and has her work in private collections across the globe, including Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia.
Farida's artistic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) in Metalwork from Camberwell College of Art in 1992, followed by a Master of Fine Art degree from Wimbledon School of Art in 2000. In addition to her studio practice, Farida is a qualified art teacher (PGCE) and has worked in education since 1996.
Between 2016 and 2022, Farida lived in Penang, Malaysia, where she taught at a British international school and further developed her practice, inspired by the vibrant cultures and natural beauty of Southeast Asia. Her time there had a profound impact on her work, particularly in painting and printmaking. After relocating back to the UK with her family in 2022, Farida continues to explore the intersection of colour, space, and the everyday objects that captivate her attention.
Farida's work is rooted in the observation of the world around her, particularly the relationships between objects, surfaces, and their reflections. She finds still life to be a rich and rewarding subject matter, often focusing on symmetry, repetition, and the interplay of light and colour. Her pieces reflect her love of atmosphere—whether it’s the energy of a busy town or the quiet contemplation of an object, Farida’s art captures moments of stillness and motion with equal grace.
In her recent work, Farida shifts between printmaking and painting, finding beauty in the simplicity and complexity of everyday life. Colour plays a key role in her artistic practice, and her work often explores how it can transform perception and create a sense of harmony. Whether capturing the noise and bustle of a market or the subtle quietude of an interior space,
